Cleveland's lakefront offers a range of marina options for Lake Erie boaters, from full-service yacht clubs to no-frills municipal docks. This guide covers what each facility offers so you can find the right fit for your boat and budget.
Edgewater Yacht Club
Located at the west end of Edgewater Park, Edgewater Yacht Club is one of Cleveland's oldest private clubs. Membership includes seasonal slips, dry storage, a fuel dock, and full clubhouse amenities. The harbor is well-protected and convenient to I-90 and the Shoreway.
Cleveland Metroparks Lakefront
The Metroparks system operates several marinas along the Cleveland lakefront, including E. 55th Street Marina and Edgewater Marina. These are public facilities with seasonal and transient docking available. Rates are competitive compared to private clubs, and most locations offer pump-out stations and shore power.
Whiskey Island Marina
Whiskey Island sits at the mouth of the Cuyahoga River, offering easy access to both the river and the open lake. The marina provides seasonal slips, fuel, and a convenient location for downtown Cleveland access.
What to Consider When Choosing a Marina
Before committing to a seasonal slip, evaluate these factors:
- Slip size and depth. Confirm the marina can accommodate your boat's LOA, beam, and draft.
- Fuel access. Not every marina has a fuel dock. If yours does not, factor in the time and fuel cost of traveling to one.
- Winter storage. Some marinas offer on-site haul-out and winter storage. Others require you to arrange transport to a separate yard.
- Location. Consider driving distance from your home and ease of trailering if applicable.
- Security. Gated access, cameras, and on-site staff vary widely between facilities.
