Lake Erie is the shallowest of the Great Lakes, and the western basin averages about 24 feet deep. Wind builds a short, steep chop quickly, so hull shape and freeboard matter as much as length. Most anglers here are after walleye and yellow perch.
A trailerable center console or walkaround launches at public ramps up and down the Ohio shore, so you can fish where the bite is that week without paying for a slip. A larger express or flybridge boat with rod holders adds a cabin for overnight trips to the islands.
Before you buy, check engine hours and service records, the livewell and bilge pumps, the electronics, and the trailer if one comes with the boat. Our boat buyer service can help you look a boat over before you make an offer, and we handle title and registration once you have a deal.
