A 1999 Tiara 3100 Open, Coast Guard documented, powered by twin Crusader 7.4L (454) gas inboards. The two engine hour meters read 390 and 575. One of the meters is broken, so true hours are unconfirmed; they can be read from the engines with a Crusader diagnostic computer.
The boat is in the Lorain, Ohio area on Lake Erie, and the seller reports freshwater use. At the helm are radar, autopilot, Garmin GPS, VHF and a compass. A generator and cabin A/C are aboard, and the bow pulpit has a power windlass and a remote-controlled spotlight. The arch carries rod holders and a Bimini top with side and aft curtains.
Why This Boat
Tiara builds in Holland, Michigan, on Lake Michigan. The 3100 Open is its express cruiser on a 31' 6" hull with a 12' beam: an open cockpit aft with an L-shaped lounge, and a cabin forward with a dinette, galley, head and a forward berth behind a privacy curtain. The cabin has a teak and holly sole and teak cabinetry.
Twin inboards mean no outdrive bellows or gimbals to maintain. The 454 is a big-block GM engine, and parts and mechanics who know it are easy to find around Lake Erie.
Radar, autopilot and a generator are already aboard. The boat also has a short list of known repairs, covered below, and the asking price reflects them.
Condition & Next Steps
The boat needs some TLC. The refrigerator works but is noisy and should be replaced. The water heater does not work. The raw water washdown pump needs replacement, and a new pump comes with the boat but has not been installed. The generator leaks fuel when cranking and needs repair; do not run it until it has been serviced.
If you want help working through the repair list before an offer, our boat buyer service covers that. Because the boat is documented, the transfer runs through the Coast Guard as well as Ohio, and we can handle the title and registration side once a deal is in hand.
